As a member of a high-performing team, you will have the opportunity to learn and contribute to our Social Security Administration (SSA) contract in Baltimore, Maryland. CSRA has a contract with SSA to provide various IT services such as development, validation, security, and infrastructure. We are looking for highly motivated individuals to join our team supporting the SSA’s mission to “deliver social security services that meet the changing needs of the public”.

Per position requirements, candidates must submit to standard background check which includes proof of US Citizenship or green card. Candidates must be able to obtain Standard 85P Public Trust Suitability.

CSRA has immediate need for a Security Operations Center (SOC) Security Engineer with experience supporting the installation and configuration of security appliances and tools. The position will work hands-on with current and new tools selected by the customer to improve the IT environment’s overall security. The preferred candidate will have experience deploying and troubleshooting IT security utilities and appliances in large enterprise environments (100k+ endpoints & 1k+ physical locations). Preferred candidate will also have strong networking experience and have worked with intrusion detection devices (IDS) and intrusion prevention systems (IPS). This position will provide support directly to Federal Government Agency security personnel.

  • Core Work and Tasks

  • Work with the Agency’s Security Operations Center security engineering team to support cyber security tool selection, deployment and configuration

  • Ability to understand/establish security policy and large enterprise security architecture

  • Knowledge of emerging security issues and trends in large enterprise security area related to PII

  • Develop emergency procedures for handling security breaches and manage internal communication regarding system updates.

  • Assist with system administration and hardware setup and maintenance as needed to support security tool deployment

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to complete projects

  • Initiative to improve the security and operating standards of a team

  • Preferred Experience and Tasks

  • Use the Agency-selected intrusion detection systems to differentiate between authentic threats and false positives

  • Update SOC procedures and documentation to avoid repeated false positives

  • A+ 2003 Certification

  • CompTIA AQUALIFICATIONS: BS or equivalent + 9 yrs related experience, or MS + 7 yrs related experience
