Job Description:

The candidate will support Marine Corps Operating Forces throughout Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside Continental United States. He/She will be required to perform as a C4I Systems/SATCOM Analyst in an integrated team environment with Marines, Government Civilians, and contractor personnel. Candidate will support Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) with Linkway and iDirect modems, VSAT-E, GATR, Hawkeye III Lite, and provide over-the-shoulder assistance as a member of MCTSSA’s Operating Forces Support Group (OFSG). The candidate will be required to provide expertise in Marine Corps EHF and SHF wideband SATCOM systems in order to conceive, design, and test logical processes for solving problems identified during network operations, exercises, training events, and CONUS/OCONUS deployments. Utilize proven troubleshooting methods to implement measurable Best Practices to improve Command and Control (C2) processes and methods. Adaptable to ever changing operational tempo by quickly implementing process improvements and identifying opportunities for use of emerging technologies.

PRIMARY SKILLS REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN ROLE:

  • Knowledge of VSAT engineering, maintenance practices, and operator requirements, to include providing remote and on-site deployed customer support pertaining to SATCOM long-haul communications to higher headquarters for reach back into GIG and intra-MAGTF comms down to battalion level.

  • Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain fielded Marine Corps VSAT, VSAT-E, and C4I Systems.

  • Able to provide expertise for issue resolution; perform system analysis and diagnostics; VSAT system set-up in garrison and tactical environments; provide maintenance, technical support, configuration management, and over-the-shoulder operator/user training.

  • Support is provided to Marine units, both deployed and in garrison, preparing for and/or participating in major exercises and contingency operations.

SECONDARY SKILLS:

  • Able to provide highly specialized interoperability and integration support for multiple fielded C4I systems and associated networks to Marines deployed and in garrison and tactical environments.

  • Familiarity with Operation and/or Administration of GBS, LMST, SMART-T, C2PC/JTCW, TCO (TCS), AFATDS, CAC2S, COC, SPEED, CPOF, Video Scout, DDS-M, NOTM, IAS FoS, Tactical Radios, and cryptographic devices.

  • Experience working with virtualization technologies (VMware).

  • Knowledge of Voice over IP (VOIP) technologies and equipment.

  • Experience with Cisco networking, voice, and call manager.

  • Knowledge of MS SharePoint and SharePoint portal utilities. Familiar with SCRUM methodology. Ability to work in a highly collaborative distributed support center environment.

ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicant must demonstrate knowledge of troubleshooting concepts, practices and procedures, and provide guidance on operation, maintenance, and sustainment of VSAT, C4I systems, and associated tactical networking hardware, software, and components.

Must possess excellent written and oral communications and teaching skills. A primary focus of this position is to provide detailed analytical reports, studies, performance metrics, and assist in maintaining a knowledge base available to peers and Marine Operating Forces.

Candidate must possess valid CompTIA Security+ Certification in accordance with DOD Directive 8570.1.

Selected candidate must be willing and medically qualified to deploy to a war zone if called upon. Must be willing to travel to contingency areas and spend up to three months if requested.

Selected candidate should expect frequent travel to remote locations in support of field training events and major military exercises.

USMC or DoD operational experience desired.
