Data and Analytics Service Area – Big Data Solution Architect
We are seeking candidates to make a difference by developing cloud-based data analytic solutions to bridge the gap between our client’s data and missions. We are seeking candidates with subject matter expertise in Cloud Analytics and Big Data disciplines to support our Data and Analytics Service Area in our corporate office in Falls Church, VA and surrounding client locations.
The responsibilities of a Big Data Solution Architect include:
Provide domain expertise in big data distributed processing frameworks, Hadoop MapReduce and Yarn, Apache Spark, Open-Source and Commercial distributions (Cloudera, Hortonworks, MapR) and Cloud-based services (AWS EMR, Azure HD Insight)
Provide domain expertise of open-source and commercial NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB, Cassandra, Accumulo) that implement document, key-value, columnar, graph, and search databases
Provide domain expertise of hybrid data architectures that combine big data with enterprise data warehouses, data lakes, data hubs, and streaming data
Drive market demand for Data and Analytics solutions by providing concise messages tailored for CSRA customers and their desired outcomes
Help define our go to market strategy for modern data management, data warehousing, big data, and advanced analytics offerings
Collaborate closely with our leveraged service center to incubate, design and deliver leveraged Data and Analytics offerings
Help activate, energize and engage a community of data management engineers and practitioners to build a strong sense of community, to provide career mobility, achieve meaningful corporate reach back and to design training and certification pathways
A Big Data Solution Architect is familiar with Big Data market trends, helps to define new markets and ensures that CSRA is in a position to be the best choice for meeting our customers’ Data and Analytics needs through collaboration with customers, partners, and internal stake holders to understand the requirements and connect them with CSRA capabilities and offerings.
This role will specialize in all aspects of Big Data/Analytics using cloud web services in large scale computing environments.
Collaborate with CSRA’s internal and external AWS resources to help partners and customers learn and use AWS services such as Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3), Amazon SimpleDB/RDS databases, AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM), etc.
Define and deliver on-site technical engagements. This includes pre-sales on-site visits, understanding customer Big Data/Analytics requirements, and proposing and delivering packaged offerings, and delivering custom solution engagements.
Presentations/proposals will be made to high level stakeholders ( i.e. C-level, VP, government officials) –candidates must have experience presenting to high value stakeholders
Consulting Engagements include short on-site projects proving the use of AWS services to support new solutions. Engagements may include migration of existing applications and development of new applications using AWS cloud services.
Reports to and supports the Data and Analytics Service Area Director
Identifies market trends in technology for Data and Analytics solutions with a focus on Cloud Analytics and Big Data
Helps set CSRA strategy for the Data and Analytics portfolio
Works with vendors to identify new potential modern data management offerings
Works with system architects to builds proof of concepts and demonstrations
Helps incubates offerings
Works with industry in tailoring offering strategies specific for them and work with appropriate government relations to shape agency procurement
Shape procurement by presentations to clients and through speaking engagements
Determines which alliances to pursue and events for CSRA to participate
Actively works with partners to shape procurements and future technologies
Identifies market for the Data and Analytics portfolio along with industry
Identifies offerings to place on GWACs like GSA Schedule 70.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
7 or more years of business solutions experience; 3 or more years in Cloud setting
Experience working with data analytics, programming languages, and database systems
Experience working with office productivity tools; delivery assurance and/or industry standards on deliverables
AWS or Azure Certifications highly desired.
Requires expertise and experience implementing three or more of the following technology areas: cloud analytics, AWS, Azure database design, data warehousing, big data, NoSQL, data science, data analytics, machine learning, streaming data.
Deep knowledge of data formats and structures, data storage, retrieval, transport, optimization, and serialization
Demonstrated experience developing engineering solutions for both structured and unstructured data.
Experience working with large datasets including data integration, data migration, analysis and visualization
Strong communication skills to communicate with customers, support personnel and stakeholders
Strong skills at managing risks during product launches
Willing to travel to a variety of customer sites within the DMV area
