Job Description:

Navy Training Management Planning System (NTMPS)/Authoritative Data Environment (ADE); ETL Manager will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of a new ETL processes to support the creation of a new Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and data platform. Develops processes and techniques for practicing good data hygiene to ensure data is always up-to-date, accurate, and store efficiently. Warehousing best practices and apply dimensional modeling experience and a background in general programming concepts. Aggregate multiple data sources and create complex SQL queries. Documents data architecture requirements and QA guidelines. Contributes to technical discussions regarding software / process design and interfaces, along with complying with best practices. Designs and develops ETL processes for initial and incremental loading. Queries source and target databases for unit testing. Design and develop data management solutions for complex business operations. Execute code migrations between Dev, QA and Production ETL environments ensuring code and job scheduling is sound and complete. Provide support for the enterprise data warehouse batch processes.

Required Skills

Three or more years writing SQL to perform data manipulation, summation and transformation; Hands-on experience with Extract, Translate and Load software, experience translating between multiple file formats using scripting languages, ETL tools and methodologies.

The understanding of Navy Manpower, Personnel, Training and Education (MPTE) processes and data sources; Experience in Oracle databases, PL/SQL; Thorough understanding of SDLC and a strong understanding of data warehouse standards, strategies and tools are a plus.

 

Prefer a BS degree and SIX years of experience.

The Navy Training Management and Planning System (NTMPS) suite of applications provides users the tools needed to access Manpower, Personnel, Training, and Education (MPTE) data via standard or ad hoc reports. NTMPS is the umbrella term used to describe the Data Warehouse (DW)/Operational Data Store (ODS) and suite of applications and business solution tools. NTMPS supports management of Navy Total Force (NTF) assets and requirements analysis by senior and mid-level management personnel including the Naval Education and Training Command (NETC), US Fleet Forces Command (USFFC), NTF activities, and other Navy activities.

The Authoritative Data Environment (ADE) is a program that provides a single, integrated authoritative data source for Navy Manpower, Personnel, Training, and Education (MPTE) data that currently sits under the NTMPS umbrella. It provides the foundation for a reliable, accurate, and timely data set that is governed at an enterprise level and accessible to all authenticated data customers, and is the authoritative source of information for other applications and systems. The ADE is the enterprise source for all MPTE data and will facilitate the reduction of point-to-point interfaces and data sharing between MPTE transactional systems. It will provide technical capabilities in support of business intelligence (BI), data visualization, and data analytics and decision support (DA&DS) to a user community of interest comprised of Operations Analysts or equivalents.
