Job Description:

CSRA provides air quality modeling support under two US Environmental Protection Agency contracts. The CSRA air quality modeling program performs development, testing, implementation, and evaluation of emissions, meteorological, and air quality models.

  • Engages in initiating, designing, developing, executing, and implementing scientific research projects.

  • Plans and conducts scientific testing and prepares comprehensive technical reports, data reports, and other publications.

  • Develops theories for understanding, characterizing and organizing natural phenomena into a systematic and meaningful pattern for research into new process methods.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in computer science, meteorology, or other scientific/mathematical field + 0 yrs experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Experience working in a Linux operating system environment

  • Working knowledge of Unix scripting languages (e.g. bash, csh, sed, awk, perl)

  • Working knowledge of SAS, R

Other Qualifications Desired:

  • Working knowledge of python, FORTRAN, database software MySQL, postgres and/or Microsoft ACCESS

  • Experience with GIS systems ArcGIS, QGIS and/or Google Earth

  • Prior experience with public domain emissions and air quality models such as SMOKE, CMAQ, CAMx and AERMOD
