Job Description:

Maintains smooth operation of Global Command and Control Systems (GCCS) computer systems including coordination with high profile customers. Duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocate mass storage space. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup and recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.

Responsibilities:

Provides for software installation, configuration, upgrade, support, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Provides account management and access control. Acts as a liaison with other components to provide information sharing pertaining to the needs of the diverse set of computer users supported by the client as a whole. Evaluates, installs, maintains, and troubleshoots application and database services for on UNIX/LINUX servers. Manages clustering and virtualization technologies, working in a Multi-zone.

Provides problem determination, including interfacing with IT professionals to isolate the causes of problems. Provides problem resolution and break/fix situations, including dealing with software and hardware vendor technical support. Installs new/rebuilds existing servers and configures hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements. Installs and configures systems such as supports GIS infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications.

Develops and maintains installation and configuration procedures. Contributes to and maintains system standards. Researches and recommends innovative and automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identifies approaches that leverage resources and provide economies of scale. Performs daily system monitoring; verifies the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes; reviews system and application logs; and verifies completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. Performs daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes, or disks, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary. Performs regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions. Performs regular file archival and purges, as necessary.

Daily Duties Include (but are not limited to):

Create/modify/delete JTT Accounts

Ensure COP availability to customer

Maintain daily backups

Maintain BIND, DNS

Manage Windows Clients

Install and maintain VMware ESXi

Maintain Oracle instances

Install and maintain security patches and updates

Respond to customer GCCS-J requests which vary widely

Input, work, and solve work requests using ARS Remedy

Ensure server hardware is in working order and redundant

Produce and maintain Standard Operating Procedures(SOPs)

Maintain BEA Weblogic servers and deployments

Troubleshoot Solaris and Windows issues as they arise

Required Skills

Qualifications / Certifications

  • CompTIA Security+ (or other certification IAW DoD 8570.1 Technical Level II)

  • One of the following computing environment certification is required:

  • MCP – Windows Server 2012

  • Solaris Certified Systems Administrator (SCSA)

  • Oracle Certified Associate (oca)

  • MCSA

  • MCSE

  • Vmware – VCP6 or higher

  • BS/BA degree

  • 11+ years experience in the IT field or 7 years experience and AA

  • Unique/Additional Requirements

  • Preferred Skills:

  • Windows Administration of GCCS-J clients and remote administration of GCCS-J servers and workstations. Experience with updating GCCS servers and workstations with approved patches and anti-virus software.

  • Experience in the following areas: Windows Server 2012, ICSF Administration, Agile Client, Google Earth, LDAP, BEA Weblogic

  • Candidates must have an active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Level Clearance

  • Willingness to work flexible hours

  • Shift work may be required

  • On Call Status may be required

  • Must meet TESA requirements

  • May be required to sign for equipment
