Job Description:

CSRA is providing call center support 24x7x365 for DHS OneNet WAN components supporting mission critical systems for DHS HQ and components. We provide Tier 1 and 2 support to support event escalations, service requests and changes to in DHS WAN devices and 3rd party service providers to support the OneNet WAN services mission. A subset of Tier 2 is the NMT team which manages and configures the network management tools used by the OneNet NOC and Tier 2 to manage the OneNet WAN. CSRA also provides project management support to coordinate the changes requested to be made on the OneNet WAN to support critical mission systems and applications across the DHS Enterprise.

We are seeking a Jr. Network Engineer to

Essential Job Functions –

-Monitors data or voice system networks for various messages, alarms, or issues.

-Activates scripts as alarms occur or issues surface. Confirms accuracy of messages, alarms or issues and/or determines severity of problem, issue or alarm.

  • Resolves basic issues; documents the results. Communicates occurrence of alarms or issues and resulting actions taken to resolve or escalate problem

  • Executes scheduled maintenance routines in accordance with standard procedures. Identifies issues or problems and resolves as appropriate; escalates when necessary.

  • Maintains smooth operation of local area, worldwide, and virtual private networks (VPN).

  • Plans, evaluates, designs, and coordinates installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network.

  • Maintains technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switchers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.

-Provides regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems

  • May coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment.

  • May design network or portion of network that includes selection and recommendation of hardware and software packages.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. - Two or more years of networks, data or voice experience

  • Experience working with computer systems and their use

  • Experience working with network systems, data or voice

  • Experience working with network software and hardware, data or voice

Other Qualifications

  • Analytical and problem solving skills to identify problems and resolve according to standard procedure - Skilled in time, priority and task management
