Job Description:

As part of the USCG TISCOM TESS program which provides critical services and support to meet the demands of the USCG mission the purpose of the USCG Intelligence Program (CGIP) Information Systems Support effort is to acquire Unclassified and Classified – Engineering, Administration, and Operations Support services for United States Coast Guard Intelligence Program (CGIP) Information Systems. A CGIP Information System processes, stores, and/or transmit data and information utilized by the Coast Guard Intelligence Program to analyze and alert on maritime and other national security threats, protection of living marine resources, and safety of life at sea issues. Security, integrity and confidential of information is of paramount importance. CGIP Information System support focuses on providing reliable and available information technology solutions to aid in ensuring the Coast Guard maintains decision advantage in performing all of its myriad missions.

Seeking a Java Software Developer to join our team in Suitland, Maryland. Must be a US citizen and have an active Top Secret/SCI clearance

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Design, develop and maintain standard applications and web-based applications for Enterprise level systems.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to employ latest Java frameworks and components.

  • Applies advanced technical principles, theories and concepts. Contributes to development of new principles and concepts.

  • Works on complex technical problems and provides solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious.

  • Develops advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product.

  • Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives.

  • Uses regular expressions to piece apart and extract data from large portions of text

  • Define site objectives by analyzing user requirements; envisioning system features and functionality.

  • Design and develops user interfaces to internet/intranet applications by setting expectations and features priorities throughout development life cycle; determining design methodologies and tool sets; completing programming using languages and software products; designing and conducting tests.

  • Recommend system solutions by comparing advantages and disadvantages of custom development and purchase alternatives.

  • Integrate applications by designing database architecture and server scripting; studying and establishing connectivity with network systems, search engines, and information servers.

  • Complete applications development by coordinating requirements, schedules, and activities; contributing to team meetings; troubleshooting development and production problems across multiple environments and operating platforms.

  • Support users by developing documentation and assistance tools.

  • Be skilled in Java, Java Applets, Web Programming Skills, Teamwork, Verbal Communication, Web User Interface Design, Software Requirements, Software Development Process, Object-Oriented Design (OOD), Multimedia Content Development, Software Debugging.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Must possess a Bachelor degree or higher with 8 or more years of software development experience

  • Must have 8+ years of experience designing, developing and deploying Java/J2EE Applications

  • Must have solid experience in Object-Oriented analysis and design.

  • Must have experience with logging tool log4j

  • Must be able to perform complex builds/deployments using Ant and/or Maven

  • Development experience must be in use of relational databases: Oracle, SQL, and PL/SQL

  • Use of regular expressions to piece apart and extract data from large portions of text

  • Experience with Software Configuration Management Tool Subversion

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BS or equivalent with more than 14 years of related experience, or MS with more than 12 years of related experience

  • Experience with web technologies: JSP/JSF, HTML5, CSS/LESS.

  • Experience in configuration and administration using Apache Tomcat Application Servers and JBoss7

  • Experience with Maven build/deployment tool

  • Experience with source code repository tools such as GIT

  • Experience working with Agile style backlogs

  • Designing and Interacting with data services (SOAP, REST, ESB)

  • Developing Use Cases, Sequence diagrams, Class diagrams and Collaboration diagrams.

  • Java Web Applications
