This position is in direct support of the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Transportation Policy (ODASD-TP). Work location is on-site at the Mark Center, Alexandria, VA.
The Transportation Policy Analyst will provide a broad range of support for all matters and policies affecting the efficient and effective use of Department of Defense (DoD) and commercial transportation resources. Specific areas of support include:
Assist with the development, coordination, and maintenance of policy issuances including directives and instructions necessary to implement the transportation policy responsibilities of the Secretary of Defense.
Assist with the implementation and oversight of new, reengineered processes and innovative strategies and programs to improve the DoD transportation functional business area.
Coordinate with DoD components, other Federal agencies, and the commercial transportation industry on transportation issues of mutual interest.
Additional details: Develops, analyzes and/or revises existing operations and management controls including standard practices, operating procedures, management systems, and reporting documentation. Develops and/or coordinates improved policies, methods, procedures, instructions, and forms to achieve greater operations efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Must have active DoD Secret clearance
Education: Master’s degree required.
Experience: More than ten years of relevant experience required. Must have functional and enterprise-wide experience in supply chain management, transportation and distribution; excellent negotiation and consensus-building skills; excellent oral presentation and writing skills; and knowledge of the roles and missions of the military Departments, the U.S. Transportation Command, and the Defense Logistics Agency. Experience in and knowledge of airlift and sealift transportation preferred.
