The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation [FDIC] mission is to preserve and promote public confidence in the U.S. financial systems by insuring deposits in banks and thrift institutions for up to $250,000; by identifying, monitoring, and addressing risks to the deposit insurance funds; and by limiting the effect on the account and the financial system when a bank or thrift institution fails. CSRA provides the day-to-day operational services to FDIC in support of infrastructure, facilities, hardware, software, and systems. CSRA supports operational security, client support/help desk, data center operations, asset management, and systems engineering service areas. The FDIC Enterprise network provides its engineers with access to a plethora of cutting-edge technologies in the network field. It has a state of the art development lab to test new functionality, architectures, and equipment. Engineers are tasked with developing and deploying innovative solutions to meet business requirements - not managing day to day, same technology operations.

GDIT/CSRA seeks an experienced project manager with extensive experience in dynamic data center migration projects with tight deadlines for the CSRA/FDIC operations team. US Citizenship is required. Background Investigation is required; you must have a current clean financial background. Successful candidate must possess and be able to demonstrate technical skills and Engineering attitude for success, dedication and commitment.

Task and responsibilities in this role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Understand the business and customer needs to introduce solutions that solve business problems.

  • Stay abreast of technical trends and potential Lear applicability; promote opportunities.

  • Define long term Data Center hosting platforms and develop migration plans to relocate services to updated platforms

  • Document and promote designated technical standards and pilot the technology

  • Devise standard bill of material for local sites to source using preferred regional suppliers

  • Lead the evaluation and selection of Data Center products

  • Work closely with enterprise architecture to ensure alignment plans

  • Ensure that industry best practices are incorporated into standard solutions delivered

  • Collaborates across IT and business teams to ensure client satisfaction

  • Manages service delivery performance through SLAs and other key performance metrics

  • Possess advanced technical knowledge of the assigned technologies, and transferring this knowledge to IT Operations either by identifying required training, or transferring knowledge via person-to-person instruction.

  • Track and report on project milestones and provide status reports to client, project teams, and other project stakeholders

  • Create and execute project backlog and work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and project demands

  • Form strong project team relationships by leading, coaching, and motivating team members, and identifying and resolving blockers or conflicts

  • Coordinate the efforts of team members with client teams into a coordinated project effort

  • Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately

  • Manage project scope by ensuring any changes are documented and approved through a change control process

  • Proactively identify project issues and risks and create successful action plans for resolving issues and mitigating risks

  • Track and report on project milestones and provide status reports to client, project teams, and other project stakeholders.

  • Provides leadership and/or direction and/or supervision to lower level employees and teams

  • Accountable to lead and guide the completion of major programs and projects

  • Participates as a Subject Matter Expert in technical and business discussions with clients, teammates, vendors, partners and /or upper level managers

  • Ability to manage and/or lead cross-functional teams for Customer engagements

  • Proven success oriented professional attitude

To qualify, you must meet these basic qualifications:

  • Ten plus years of experience managing complex and transformative IT projects such as infrastructure, data center migrations or cloud computing strategies

  • Has in-depth experience with key practices, processes and methodologies applicable to project management.

  • Strong business acumen, with experience working in a variety of industries and IT areas.Must have demonstrated aptitude to understand a variety of technical domains and strategies regarding opportunities, challenges, risks and business impact

  • Strong facilitation skills with demonstrated experience leading scoping and design sessions, managing geographically dispersed teams and identifying and resolving client and team risks and conflicts

  • Highly organized with proven ability to handle multiple, competing priorities simultaneously and make things happen in fast-paced, dynamic environments

  • Demonstrated experience in working in unstructured environments that required designing and implementing creative project management methodologies

  • Excellent teamwork skills with a natural ability to motivate and work well with others

  • Agile approach in personal work style, with ability to be flexible and adept in dealing with and resolving ambiguity

  • Track record of building successful relationships, internally and externally

  • Detailed oriented with a flair for problem solving

  • Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills including creating usable documentation and tools

  • Ability to travel occasionally as projects require
