The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation [FDIC] mission is to preserve and promote public confidence in the U.S. financial systems by insuring deposits in banks and thrift institutions for up to $250,000; by identifying, monitoring, and addressing risks to the deposit insurance funds; and by limiting the effect on the account and the financial system when a bank or thrift institution fails. CSRA provides the day-to-day operational services to FDIC in support of infrastructure, facilities, hardware, software, and systems. CSRA supports operational security, client support/help desk, data center operations, asset management, and systems engineering service areas. The FDIC Enterprise network provides its engineers with access to a plethora of cutting-edge technologies in the network field. It has a state of the art development lab to test new functionality, architectures, and equipment. Engineers are tasked with developing and deploying innovative solutions to meet business requirements - not managing day to day, same technology operations.
CSRA seeks an experienced Senior Network Engineer for the FDIC Infrastructure team. U.S. Citizenship and background investigation is required; you must have a current clean financial background. (Though the position is 8-5 M-F, the role requires flexibility to support issues or planned activities after hours, weekends and holidays as needed.) Successful candidate must possess and be able to demonstrate technical skills and engineering attitude for success, dedication and commitment.
Task and responsibilities in this role include, but are not limited to the following:
Design, develop, implement, and maintain (LAN, MAN, WAN, Wireless) network infrastructure
Determine network bandwidth needs and recommend measures to meet those requirements
Conduct network modeling and analysis to construct a reliable, high-performance integrated network
Direct system installation
Select and install appropriate data communications components configured to meet current and future client's needs
Program routers, switches, and other network hardware
Configure DNS servers and appliances
Maintain firewall and manage security related to hacking
Define, document, and enforce system standards
Manage owned domain names
Design, recommend and implement new solutions to improve the resilience of network operations
Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problems and outages
Schedule updates and upgrades
Collaborate with network architects to optimize system performance
Engage in data network fault investigations
Secure network systems with policies that define and monitor access
Report network operation status based on project management and priority information
Implement, configure and optimize QoS, BGP, OSFP, VoIP,
Ability to setup, configure, upgrade, manage, and troubleshoot Cisco and Juniper routers, switches, firewalls, SRX's, and Riverbed devices
Design and implement Enterprise communications platforms such as Avaya Telephony, Cisco UC, or Skype for Business
Provides leadership and/or direction and/or supervision to lower level employees and teams
Accountable to lead and guide the completion of major programs and projects
Participates as a Subject Matter Expert in technical and business discussions with clients, teammates, vendors, partners and /or upper level managers
Ability to manage and/or lead cross-functional teams for customer engagements
Proven success oriented professional attitude
To qualify, you must meet these basic qualifications:
Seven plus years of experience as a network engineer managing enterprise data center networks
Previous experience in IT, security or systems support, or network administrator positions preferred
Retain familiarity with various network types including LANs, WANs, WLANs, and VoIP networks
Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
Increase job knowledge through continuing education and professional development opportunities, attend conferences, and read professional industry publications
Open to being on call outside of regular working hours as well as occasional nights and weekends in the office
Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to perform well under pressure
Have high attention to detail
Be a confident communicator
Work well independently or as a senior network SME
BS or equivalent and nine years related experience, or MS and seven years related experience
It would be great if you also had
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or higher
Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)
