Job Description:

We are looking for an Associate Test Engineer with a desire to learn analytical skills and understanding of databases to join our team. This opportunity is an entry level role and must be must be eager to be engaged in problem solving, communication and analysis.

In this role, you will be part of our team supporting the CDC ISS DME - Public Health Surveillance Systems. On this program, we're developing and maintaining multiple solutions in SQL Server 2012 and 2016 to include complicated JAVA web applications with backend data verification capabilities running on SQL server and other newer technologies. Good problem solving skills and out of the box thinking are important for this team.

Position is for full time employment with General Dynamics Information Technology and will be based at our Atlanta, GA office on Corporate Square. You can work a flexible schedule Monday - Friday around core business hours with the opportunity to telework 1 day a week once established and with manager approval.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Jr. Test Engineer will analyze and develop test plans, scripts, test cases and test data for functional testing.

  • Translate functional requirements and specifications into documented test plans

  • Execute functional test plans manually and conduct exploratory testing to evaluate alternatives to the test cases provided

  • Backend database testing in Microsoft SQL Server

  • Identify potential quality issues and report issues in a timely manner

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 0 - 2 year of experience (Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related area is preferred).

  • Ability to document testing processes

  • Ability to work amongst development teams, project management and stakeholders

  • Ability to learn to write and execute SQL query commands

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel

  • Capacity to understand the testing process within software development

  • Basic understanding of SQL databases
