CSRA supports some of the largest supercomputers in the world including those at NASA, NOAA, DOD and NIH – comprising 40+ petaflops compute, 170 petabytes of online storage, and an exabyte of archive storage, utilizing the latest network and accelerator technologies. We are looking to expand our HPC Center of Excellence and train the next generation.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with Linux experience and a strong desire to develop skills in support of the NIH Biowulf supercomputing facility.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
This position supports the HPC systems administrative team in operating and maintaining the 3,000 node Linux cluster for 2,000 biomedical researchers. Specific responsibilities include:
Build and deploy software packages
Monitor node health and job completion status
Triage of failed nodes and networks
Coordination of hardware repair with vendor(s)
Work with senior staff on long-term projects to enhance cluster functionality and performance
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Linux system administration experience
Experience automating administrative tasks using bash shell scripting
Solid knowledge of TCP/UDP protocols for IP networking
Bachelor’s degree and two years relative experience. or a MS and no experience or the equivalent experience and education.
Two years Linux systems administration experience; classroom, internship, etc. may be applied toward qualification.
Programming experience in C/C++ or Python
Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Cobbler
NFS filesystem experience

The position is full-time onsite at the NIH main campus in Bethesda, Maryland.
Limited off-hour system maintenance activities will be planned in advance.
There are no travel requirements.
