Job Description:

GDIT is seeking a Software Developer with Drupal and PHP expertise to provide web design and technical support for the Office of the Director (OD) within the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Our Web Application team provides approximately 2700 users at OD and works alongside other GDIT staff who provide Desktop Support, Cyber Security Operations, Infrastructure, Customer Relations and Program Management support.

As a member of a small Web Application Team consisting of four developers, an analyst, and a team lead, you will need to be able to juggle multiple assignments while engaging with the entire team to ensure requirements, testing and deployments are coordinated and properly documented.

You will provide content management support for various websites supported by the OD Office of Information Technology (OIT) and will be the lead developer for all content management websites. This may include other technologies as this program matures and client needs change. All work will be performed in an Agile SDLC environment using automated tools such as TFS and/or JIRA.

Job Responsibilities and Functions

  • Provide front and backend content management support using tools, such as Drupal and PHP.

  • Interact with the clients to ensure the deliverables provide the functionality and user experience sought by the clients.

  • Provide content management administration as clients’ needs warrant

  • Consult clients on effective and efficient ways of deploying content.

  • Stay current with the latest technologies and techniques used to develop and maintain content management systems.

  • Interact directly with client to obtain and understand their content management needs.

  • Maintain web content management systems

  • Provide weekly or ad-hoc status reports

  • Attend weekly status meetings

  • Maintain communications with the clients to ensure they are aware of progress, issues, risks and action items.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • BS in a Computer Science or Engineering field and two years related experience or a MS in a related field or the equivalent combination of experience and education

  • Experience working with SDLC software applications such as JIRA or TFS.

  • Two years experience developing content management websites using the Drupal CMS.

  • Two years PHP experience

  • Working knowledge of MySQL

  • Content management system experience working within a LAMP Stack hosting environment.

  • Experience working in an Agile environment

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience working in a federal contractor environment.

  • Experience working at NIH is a plus.

Summary

  • Position is for full time employment with GDIT

  • Work schedule is Monday – Friday

  • Schedule will be between core hours of 7:00 am – 6:00 pm to ensure customer support

  • No security clearance is required but individual must be able to obtain a position of trust.
