Seeking a Telecom Support Engineer to join our team.
Must be a US Citizen with an active Top Secret clearance.
Designs and plans network systems. Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Provides specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network systems. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switchers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluates and reports on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
Specific Tasks include:
Network/Traffic (SONET/Ethernet) testing and troubleshooting (T-Berd 5800)
Fiber optic infrastructure test and characterization (OTDR, Power meter)
Preventive Maintenance Inspections on optical equipment - Documentation
Monitoring optical network via Network Management software
Fault detection and isolation in optical transport systems
Knowledge areas include:
Experience with Optical Transport systems.
ROADM/DWDM transport architecture
Experience with SONET/Ethernet circuits
Test, Turn-up and maintenance of Optical Transport equipment and peripherals
Telecommunications industry best practices for installation of optical cabling, equipment and peripherals
REQUIRED CLEARANCE: TOP SECRET (ACTIVE)
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: BS or equivalent + 5 yrs related experience, or MS + 3 yrs related experience
