Job Description:

We are seeking a Team Lead for our Enterprise Server Team who is innovative, dedicated, and highly-motivated to solve challenging problems for our client, working across the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) technical enterprise server program. This program has the following disciplines:

  • Windows Server

  • Unified Communications

  • VMware vSphere

  • Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop

You will inspire and foster confidence in others with your abilities to effectively communicate with various customer communities to understand their needs, and provide them guidance on how to best protect them through your technical solutions.


  • Interface with both contract and government personnel at all levels

  • Interact with the client to determine high-level systems architecture and ensure that the resulting implementation meets their specified needs and vision.

  • Keep up-to-date on industry trends and innovations, and try to think through solutions in terms of “years” from now, rather than “months,” and provide vision for the team

  • Facilitate changes to improve existing processes and encourage new learning opportunities.

  • Manage relationships with government client, other technical teams, and vendors.

  • Responsible for budget, scheduling, resource allocation, planning, implementation, communication, and all other major areas of project management.

  • Attend and lead team and project meetings as required.

  • Manage day to day operations flow

  • Mentor junior level system administrators

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of an enterprise technical environment and system engineering/administration actions


  • BS and nine years related work experience or MS and seven years related work experience or the equivalent combination of experience/education.

  • Experience leading and/or managing a team

  • Experience in project management and IT lifecycle management


  • Experience with VMware

  • Experience with Windows Server and related technologies

  • Experience with Citrix for application virtualization and remote access

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Lync and Microsoft Skype for Business

  • Experience with enterprise hardware and software monitoring tools

  • Experience with Hardware Load balancers

  • Knowledge of Windows 2008r2 and 20012r2 operating systems

  • Knowledge of SCOM 2012R2

  • Knowledge of Active Directory

  • Knowledge of PKI

  • Knowledge of DNS

  • Experience in PowerShell scripting and automation

  • Knowledge in securing IT systems

  • Enterprise server management experience

  • Experience with file, print, application, and database servers

  • Experience with enterprise server hardware

  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP

  • Strong troubleshooting skills

  • Strong documentation skills


  • Demonstrates excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Experience working in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be able to give presentations to your team, peers, and senior management, and represent the concerns and challenges of your team to the rest of the organization in a clear and professional manner.
