General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking a Cybersecurity Policy & Awareness Manager in Arlington, Virginia to support a cybersecurity contract with a major federal customer.

The position supports a major federal customer’s Cybersecurity Policy & Awareness Program. The security policy and standards component is responsible for writing, updating, promulgating, and providing guidance on new and existing computer, cyber, and new technology policies and standards. The team is also responsible for official representation and coordination of international and national level policies and guidance. The security awareness component designs and implements the customer’s cybersecurity communications program to build a culture of awareness across over 150 facilities and over 100,000 users worldwide. The team provides general and targeted outreach activities, events, and materials to increase user knowledge of cybersecurity policies and best practices.
Lead team of policy writers and communications specialists to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems. Develop and administer schedule, performance and quality requirements, and contract deliverables
Research, recommend, develop, maintain, and update domestic and overseas cybersecurity policies, to include use of new and emerging technology (e.g. Wi-Fi, cloud, mobile devices), software, hardware, and other IT-related systems (e.g. VoIP, Building Automation Systems)
Develop and execute cybersecurity awareness program for global audience regarding the secure use of data, networks, computers, and new technology
Examine incoming requests for exceptions to policy and draft recommended decision memoranda to include requisite mitigation strategies
Coordinate clearances of all draft cybersecurity policies and memoranda; participate in intra-agency policy and awareness working groups; and serve as subject matter expert and senior advisor to DOS stakeholders
Provide support for the review and coordination for international and national level classified and unclassified cyber policies and guidelines
Work with policy writers, intelligence analysts, engineers, computer technicians, and IT experts to craft messaging and communications materials (e.g. newsletters, digital media, print media, online training, website content, campaigns, etc.) to meet the program’s strategic objectives
Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field with 8+ years of work experience or MA in the same fields combined with 5+ years of work experience
Experience managing professionals (e.g. policy writers, engineers, IT specialists, etc.); demonstrated project management experience
Work on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends
Experience in developing and implementing strategic communications and awareness programs, preferably IT or cybersecurity related
Experience in research, analysis, and writing polices and standards related to information system, cybersecurity, and new technology issues and trends (strong preference for experience in cloud)
Experience with the creation of IT security requirements, technical security safeguards, countermeasures, risk management, contingency planning, data communications networking, and digital and print communications materials
Ability to translate complex, technical IT terms into digestible information for users with varying levels of cybersecurity awareness
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills to effectively relate to agency and customer needs; ability to build working relationships with leaders and key stakeholders
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong organizational skills; research, analysis, and writing skills
Knowledge of digital and social media tools for effective communication, including online communities, blogs, wikis, and other digital marketing tools
Knowledge of, and experience with, current Federal security standards (e.g., FISMA/NIST, DOD, and CNSS)
M.S. in Public Policy or Cybersecurity
