GDIT seeks a Senior Field Support Engineer in support of maintaining and enhancing GDIT-developed hardware and software products installed at various military test ranges. Position involves developing and maintaining positive professional customer relationships with an emphasis on helping customers analysis their system requirements and develop solutions. Significant customer interaction and excellent communication skills are required, including the ability to effectively convey technical details to a range of personnel from system engineers to technical managers.

Successful candidate will develop custom hardware / firmware / software-based solutions in support of customer-driven requirements. Many solutions result in firmware and software enhancements to existing GDIT products, which are prototyped in our office lab environment. Maintenance responsibilities include both on-site and depot hardware repairs, firmware and software bug fixes as well as assisting customers with debugging their systems. Fully responsible for software and firmware implementation of developed designs on standard and custom hardware platforms, as well as co-responsibility for custom hardware implementation.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • U.S. Citizen

  • Ability to execute all phases of hardware, firmware, software development from design inception through prototyping, testing, deployment, and maintenance

  • Ability to understand, maintain, and enhance software, firmware, and hardware that was designed and documented by others

  • Experience implementing firmware designs using Altera / Intel FPGAs and Quartus II IDE; fluent in both Altera HDL (AHDL) and Verilog

  • Experience with fight test telemetry systems and real-time data processing systems

  • Working knowledge of digital electronic design techniques; familiar with design and layout requirements of high-speed circuitry

  • Working knowledge of network and information exchange technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, HTTP, etc.)

  • Fluent developing software using C and C++ under various Linux OSs including RHEL; device driver development desired

  • Experience as an electronic technician, use of test and other tools, SMT rework, fabrication tasks

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS or equivalent + 5 yrs related experience, or MS + 3 yrs related experience

  • Knowledgeable with the Range Commander’s Council IRIG 106 standards and their applications in flight-test environments

  • Familiar with Qt development framework environment

  • Experience with microwave-frequency circuit design and layout

  • Experience with Cadence PCB design tools and ARM Cortex-A processors

  • Background in technical sales and/or technical customer management

  • Experience with implementation of IEEE 1588 PTP time standard
