Job Description:

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintains, repairs, troubleshoots, modifies and installs various types of electronic equipment and related devices such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (e.g., radar, radio, television, telecommunication, sonar and navigational aids), personal and main frame computers/ and terminals, industrial, medical, measuring, and controlling equipment; and industrial robotic devices.)

  • Applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skill in restoring equipment operation, evaluates performance and reliability of prototype or production mode, and recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.

  • Applies basic and some advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents.

  • Requires familiarity with the interrelationships of circuits and judgment in planning work sequence, in selecting tools, testing instruments, and review for compliance with accepted practices.

  • May provide technical guidance and/or supervision to lower level technicians.

  • Works under general supervision of a senior technician (generally a CBA Simulator chnician III or Simulator Technician III Lead) with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment unless the only technician assigned to device. If only technician assigned to device the Technician II will have full latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment with regards to all aspects of the training device.

Additional Job Functions:

  • Ability to interpret wiring diagram and schematics.

  • Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufactures’ manuals or similar documents.

  • Must be able to effectively present hardware, software, and or subsystems problems to design and support engineering teams.

  • Troubleshoot, update, and configure Linux and Windows based operating systems during replacement and re-configuration of systems.

  • Troubleshoot and repair complex electronic/electromechanical equipment and systems, subsystems.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair local area networks and network peripherals.

  • Utilize common and special purpose test equipment to isolate malfunctions and preformed repair actions.

  • Performs circuit equipment repair and modifications.

  • • May be required to perform repairs on pneudraulic, hydraulic, and HVAC equipment.Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Electronic Technology (or equivalent) from an accredited college or university and three years minimum work experience in a related discipline or three years related military training or a combination of education and experience.

  • Three years of increasingly complex and progressive experience in troubleshooting computer systems and networks.

  • Three years’ experience with Microsoft, Linux and UNIX operating systems preferred.

  • Must possess good written composition and verbal communication skills, ability to express facts and rationale.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance if required.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs

Work Environment:

  • Varies depending on site (Heat, dust, cold, office, warehouse, range, loud noises, etc)

  • Will be expected to work either a second or third shift schedule as defined by the job requirement.
