Essential Job Functions:
Performs orderly initialization, operation, and shutdown of the system/device/simulators and maintains, repairs, troubleshoots, modifies and installs various types of electronic equipment and related devices.
Primary responsible for the LCT training device maintenance and support.. This includes visual and display systems, and computer network technology.
Conducts system pre-operational, during, and post-operational checks of system components and system network.
Responds to maintenance calls, maintain maintenance logbook entries, initiates corrective actions, replacement parts requisitions, and related records updates. Conducts and documents preventive maintenance checks & services. Implements and provides feedback on engineering software and hardware updates. Conducts supporting maintenance checks, engineering upgrades, and tests as directed by the Site Manager.
Performs system reconfigurations and operational checks prior to scheduled training periods. Supports maintenance and training operations during scheduled hours.
Employs use of complex electronic equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multi-meter, fiber optic test equipment, and other test equipment, computer based troubleshooting systems, power meters, CAT5, CAT6, and Fiber optic network cabling testing. Maintains, test, and repairs voltage, network, computer, and electronic cabling as needed. Troubleshoots and replace complex analog and digital networked circuit arrays.
Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs electromechanical, video, audio, computers, and network systems using publications and wiring diagrams supplied by military, contractor engineering, and commercial off the shelf equipment manufacturers.
Must be able to effectively present hardware, software, and or subsystems problems to design and support engineering teams. In addition, assist in implementation of design and other technical upgrades and hardware changes.
Troubleshoots, updates, and configures Linux and Windows based operating systems during replacement and re-configuration of system computers network systems. The technician must also troubleshoot and repair Windows and Linux based computers and its local network.
Technician is responsible for the performance of maintenance and reliability tests on the equipment that is used in the simulator/system. Specifically the technician must perform System Readiness Test, Preventative Maintenance and visual alignment on the training devices.
Associate's Degree in Electronic Technology (or equivalent) from an accredited college or university and three years minimum work experience in a related discipline or three years related military training or a combination of education and experience.
Three years of increasingly complex and progressive experience in computer systems / network or training device maintenance.
Two years’ experience with Microsoft office software operation and use.
Must be able to safely handle rack mounted computers weighing up to 50 lbs. and universal power supplies weighing up to 60 lbs.
Must be able to crawl through limited access spaces as part of periodic inspections, services, maintenance, and engineering changes. Performs MIL STD 2000 soldering as required.
Must possess good written composition and verbal communication skills, ability to express facts and rationale
Must currently possess at a minimum an Interim security clearance and be able to obtain/maintain an active/valid US security clearance.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Work schedule will require some shift work as well as some weekends.
Must be able to travel to various locations.
