CSRA has partnered with NASA to consolidate select Procurement, Finance, Human Resources and Information Technology activities from the ten NASA Centers into a single shared services center located at Stennis Space Center in southern Mississippi.

The NASA Shared Services Center (NSSC) mission is to provide timely, accurate, high quality, cost-effective, and customer focused support for selected NASA business and technical services.

CSRA has an opportunity at the NASA Shared Services Center (NSSC) for an HR Classification Specialist to contribute to our success in Classification Services for NASA. This will be a casual, part-time position.

NASA employs a large number of research scientists, engineers, project managers, technology positions, and administrative professionals and, as a result, the majority of classification assignments are highly complex and technical. The Classification Specialist will provide a full range of classification services that include research, analysis, and investigative techniques, as well as, drafting and re-describing position descriptions (PDs). The candidate will conduct desk audits and position reviews and provide support with realignments and reorganizations. The Classification Specialist will be required to prepare written evaluation statements for new draft PDs. Classification support also includes advising managers on position description content, therefore, candidates must have an understanding of position management. Candidates shall be experienced with highly complex engineering, scientific, and technology positions and have proven abilities to investigate, research, and analyze the work of complex organizations, and the interrelationships with other organizations.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and specialized experience applying the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) classification standards, grade evaluation guides, and policies.

  • Excellent written and communication skills with proven ability to develop probing questions to discover facts and assess the level and degree of difficulty of individual work assignments.

  • 4 years of prior Federal position classification experience is required.

  • Experience with the NASA Supplemental Classification System, including Aerospace Technology (AST) positions, is preferred but is not required.

  • Proven ability to meet strict deadlines while handling a high volume of work.
