We are seeking an Application Support Administrator to support one of our clients located in Washington, DC. Our company supports the customer by leveraging leading-edge IT solutions to improve the customer's mission effectiveness while continuously seeking opportunities to increase efficiency. Under the Information Technology Support Services (ITSS) contract, our organization's 110-member team delivers the full breadth of IT services, including infrastructure engineering and operations, software development and maintenance, cyber security, enterprise architecture support, and document processing. We also provide document processing capabilities in support of the agency’s regulatory mission.
The Application Support Administrator will providing enterprise-level IT operations, engineering and maintenance support for Linux\AIX systems and internal custom applications. The administrator will be part of the Infrastructure team.
Essential Job Functions
Prepare, install, implement and support operating software (RedHat Linux and AIX) and associated components.
Plan, prepare and apply maintenance fixes to system software and firmware as required.
Responsible for installing Unix/Linux operating system patches and upgrades as needed including supporting administrative tools and utilities during scheduled maintenance.
Provides support for custom applications used by the Agency.
Debug and solve complex problems associated with AIX/Linux servers in production and test environment.
Work with Systems Engineering to secure/harden Linux or AIX Operating systems in production.
Work with Systems Engineering to identify custom application issues and document resolutions.
Perform proactive monitoring to ensure high availability including verifying integrity and availability of hardware, server resources, systems and applications that support the Agency core applications.
Verify routine backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and related data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media and are cycled off site as needed for business continuity purposes.
Write and update technical procedures, standards and knowledgebase for supported systems and custom applications.
Ability to multi-task and set priorities within tight timelines and high client expectations.
Participate in on-call rotation.
Extensive knowledge and experience in all facets of UNIX/Linux Systems Engineering & Administration
SCCM 2016 knowledge
2+ years of RedHat Linux Advanced Systems Administration experience with RHCE certification
2+ years of AIX Systems Administration experience (preferred)
Experience Shell scripting (ksh, Bash)
Good organization and documentation skills
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
Ability to work effectively in a team
Knowledge and experience with Windows Server 2012R2 and 2008R2
Experience using Nessus Vulnerability Scanner to read reports and address security vulnerabilities.
Knowledge of Remedy ticket tracking system
