Job Description:

The Instructional Designer is responsible for all phases of the ADDIE or AGILE instructional design methodology given a project’s requirements. Partnering with subject matter experts, programmers, and project manager the ideal candidate will:

  • Apply adult learning principles to design and develop, or re-design, relevant and engaging instructional content for synchronous (face-to-face ILT and Virtual ILT) and/or asynchronous (WBT) delivery methods

  • Design and integrate interactive, real world concepts and activities to encourage knowledge application and skill development

  • Create well-defined and well written objectives and course outlines that meet identified training needs

  • Develop a task analysis, detailed design plan or prototype based on project requirements for client approval

  • Comprehend and organize subject matter from existing sources to communicate it clearly and concisely

  • Implement Section 508 and SCORM requirements for all applicable training content

  • Establish or follow instructional design and development standards for all existing and future training programs

  • Communicate frequently and effectively in a positive and professional manner with various project team members to ensure goals and objectives are being met

  • Demonstrate effective problem solving and strong interpersonal skills

  • Manage work time and deliverables to meet project schedule and budget

  • Develop rapport with clients; focus on the client’s values and desired outcomes; consistently demonstrate a high level of customer satisfaction for internal and external stakeholders

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Adult Education, or a related field with 1-2 years of experience

  • Working knowledge of learning management and learning content management systems

  • Working knowledge of virtual learning platforms (i.e., Blackboard Learn, Blackboard Collaborate, Adobe Connect)

  • Strong computer proficiency required, including Windows and Microsoft Office suite software programs

  • Superior oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of learning program design systems and software (i.e., Articulate Studio or Storyline, Adobe Presenter and/or Adobe Captivate)

  • Experience in designing and developing learning content or programs for the Federal government

  • Experience writing scenario-based, narrative-driven, interactive, multimedia web-based courseware

  • Experience facilitating virtual instructor-led courses in virtual platform (i.e., Blackboard Learn, Blackboard Collaborate and Adobe Connect)
