Job Description:

As a Firewall Engineer you will:

  • Be skilled in configuring and utilizing network protection components (e.g., firewalls, Virtual Private Networks [VPNs], network Intrusion Detection Systems [IDSs])

  • Have knowledge of the common attack vectors on the network layer;

  • Be skilled in data parsing and knowledgeable on how to troubleshoot and restore servers and appliance to a fully operational state;

  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic system administration, network, and operating system hardening techniques

  • Use DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), Network Firewall STIGs, and STIG Viewer

  • Use DoD Instruction 8551.01 Ports, Protocols, and Services Management (PPSM) and Category Assurance List (CAL)to perform audits and vulnerability assessments of JSP firewalls and identify non-compliant ports

  • Use auditing application tools suite up to and including Skybox Security, NipperStudio, and FireMonDesired:

  • Performing shadowed and redundant rule audits

  • Performing banned port audits

  • Performing unused objects audits

  • Assessing and auditing Cisco and Juniper firewall configurations

  • Utilizing command-line interface for Cisco and Juniper firewalls

Additional Job Description:

MANDATORY Job Requirements:

  • BS degree; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree

  • 4+ years of experience with Network protection techniques and technologies

  • Extensive experience with firewalls, VPN and IDS

  • IAT Level II certification

  • Juniper/Cisco Certification

  • CND-IS

  • Secret clearance
