Job Description:

GDIT currently supports Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) by leveraging leading-edge IT solutions to improve customer's mission effectiveness while continuously seeking opportunities to increase efficiency. Under the Information Technology Support Services (ITSS) contract, our 110+ member team delivers the full breadth of IT services, including infrastructure engineering and operations, software development and maintenance, cyber security, enterprise architecture support, and document processing.

We are currently searching for a Sr. Project Manager to provide project management support to ongoing systems engineering projects located at FERC HQ in Washington, DC.

The Sr. Project Manager oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management. Reviews status of projects and budgets, manages schedules, and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, clients and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Meet with clients to take detailed ordering briefs and clarify specific requirements of each project

  • Plan, coordinate and manage engineering projects. Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short- and long-term goals

  • Mitigate risks, controls costs and schedule variance, and effectively manages large scale, integrated projects. Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis

  • Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with clients as well as other staff members

  • Ensure efficient delivery of contract capabilities using industry standards and repeatable processes.

  • Review and/or approve system engineering documentation to ensure that processes and specifications meet system needs and are accurate, comprehensive, and complete.

  • Establish and follow a formal procedure for coordinating system integration activities among multiple teams, ensuring complete coverage of all interfaces.

  • Establish a process to formally and proactively control and manage changes to requirements, consider impacts prior to commitment to change, gain stakeholder buy-in, eliminate ambiguity, ensure traceability to source requirements, and track and settle open actions.

  • Write technical copy for various types of documents for a program/project of similar complexity.

Required Qualifications:

  • BA degree, master preferred, and 8 -10+ years of overall IT experience.

  • 5+ more years of experience managing IT projects as a Project Manager

  • Experience managing IT Projects and staff specify Systems engineer projects.

  • Experience managing budgets, reviewing invoices, and EVM

  • PMP Certification
